Working with schools in the UK: Encouraging Ambition

Encouraging Ambition

Working with schools in the UK including Northern Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands – some that have never embarked on development activities, some that have an established programme – are daring to be ambitious and responding to the challenge.

Expanding into secondary education, raising the community expectations and aspirations for fundraising, raising the sights and opportunities to create a niche and unique marketing position – are all coming out of thinking beyond the normal.  And schools have tended to think ‘normal’.  But being able to show what is possible and guide the process in the right way is exciting.

From nothing to donations of £800,000 in one change of direction; from aspiring for 1400 students, to now after 2 years, sustaining over 1500; to engaging the help and expertise of current families when originally thinking, ‘we can’t do that’! Involving and encouraging and learning from past mistakes and now getting it right – its all part of good development management!
